ING Discerning Eye 2022 Exhibition

London's most celebrated annual open exhibition returns at Mall Galleries. The ING Discerning Eye is famous for its focus on small-scale works and its unique selection process.

Out of 7,300 entries, 527 pieces by 359 artists were selected for the ING Discerning Eye 2022 exhibition by:

• RWA Director Alison Bevan,
• film director Gurinder Chadha,
• curator Aindrea Emelife,
• ArtCan Director Kate Enters,
• printmaker David Ferry and painter Ansel Krut.

The selection panel, made up of experts from across the art world - two artists, two collectors and two critics - chose pieces spanning across all mediums, styles and genres to represent some of the best art made in Britain today.

All artworks will be available for sale. Collectors will be invited to browse pieces by established names, discover the next generation of UK-based artists, and buy their favourite artworks at in person or online.

“My selection was based on work that I connected with emotionally and the context of the work” notes Gurinder Chadha. 

“I chose work in the same way that I select artwork for my own home” explains Alison Bevan RWA. “Does it light a personal spark? Would it reward spending lots of time looking at it?”

“When selecting from the 7,300 images submitted for the exhibition, I felt I was looking at a great untold story of art-love in the UK today; all the works were threaded with a genuine passion for making art” shares Ansel Krut.
