MEPAINTSME ANNUAL OPEN CALL

ABOUT THE PROGRAM

MEPAINTSME's Annual Open Call is a juried exhibition and fundraiser aimed at providing a platform for emerging and mid-career artists, while also supporting important social and humanitarian causes.

Since its inception in 2022, the Open Call program has featured the artwork of 80 international artists, while raising over $10,000 to support charity - in 2022, Ukrainian Relief organizations, and in 2023, groups working to end gun violence in America.

Open Call for Mail Art Exhibition & Fundraiser

Organized within the framework of the exhibition Sonja Ahlers: Classification Crisis, this call is open to artists from anywhere in the world (18 years and over) who wish to contribute one original piece of Mail Art in response to the theme of collecting and reassembling.

Mail Art, also known as postal art and correspondence art, is an artistic movement centered on sending small-scale works through the postal service. This call is inspired by the work of Sonja Ahlers known for her zines, chapbooks, collages, and mixed media works. Artists are invited to respond to this theme by collecting and reassembling their own stories, images, and ephemera into a postcard-sized artwork, and to mail their postcards to the Richmond Art Gallery.

DCAD and downtown partners will rock the block with April 19 ArtParty

DCAD@20 ArtParty attendees will be able to create it, view it, critique it, buy it and pose with it. “It” is art, and it’ll be the main attraction for the Delaware College of Art and Design fundraiser that will fill more than a block of Market Street with festivity on April 19.

Also invited to the party, which begins at 5:30 p.m. and continues through 8:30 p.m., are tunes, brews and foods provided by vendors from throughout Downtown Wilmington and beyond. Party-goers will enjoy seeing the 150-piece “DCAD@20 ArtParty Exhibition” and buying their favorite paintings, drawings and sculpture. They also can help create a large community mural, add to an interactive sculpture and take selfies with famous artworks recreated by students on DCAD windows.

Members of families known for city development investing themselves in DCAD fundraiser

Mati Bonetti de Buccini is a partner and the director of Atelier, an art preservation and storage organization with facilities in Delaware and Pennsylvania. Cindy Pettinaro Wilkinson owns COCA Art, a local art gallery and retailer. Their family businesses develop and invest in real estate in and around Wilmington, Buccini/Pollin Group since 1993 and Pettinaro since 1965.
