The Wells Art Contemporary awards are an open competition for contemporary art rapidly gaining praise in Britain and abroad. Established in 2012, the competition has already established a strong presence in the London art world and is drawing artists from places as diverse as Australia, Azerbaijan, India, Italy, Korea, Japan and the United States, as well as all over Britain.

The Wells Art Contemporary (WAC) Awards are an open competition for contemporary art rapidly gaining praise in Britain and abroad. It was established in 2012 by a group of artists and their friends in Wells, the beautiful cathedral city in the South-West of England. This idea that came to life around a kitchen dining table has already established a strong presence in the London art world and is drawing artists from places as diverse as Australia, Azerbaijan, India, Italy, Korea, Japan and the United States, as well as all over Britain.

Wells Art Contemporary: WAC Awards 2019

The Wells Art Contemporary (WAC) Awards is an international open competition for contemporary visual arts which has already established a strong presence in the London art world and which is drawing artists from places as diverse as Australia, Azerbaijan, India, Italy, Korea, Japan and the United States. Open to artists working in painting, sculpture, drawing, printmaking, photography, installation or video, the WAC Awards aims to stimulate debate, challenge and provoke, pushing the boundaries of the visual arts scene both nationally and internationally. We are delighted to announce that the 2019 shortlisted works will be exhibited at an exciting new venue, Wells Cathedral, set in the medieval heart of England’s smallest city.
