Are you looking to impact the community positively through arts and entertainment while stepping into your next career? The City of Rancho Cucamonga seeks a creative, experienced marketing professional as its new Community Affairs Coordinator for the Lewis Family Playhouse at Victoria Gardens Cultural Center (VGCC). The Community Affairs Coordinator at the Lewis Family Playhouse will be a creative, action-oriented individual willing to think outside the box while developing multi-faceted promotional campaigns designed to increase attendance and further awareness of the venue’s offerings. The successful candidate will be passionate about the arts and have a proven record of creating high-quality marketing collateral and public relations strategies to drive community awareness. This recruitment may be used to use to fill positions in Library Services and the Community Affairs Division.

About the Lewis Family Playhouse at Victoria Gardens Cultural Center:
The Lewis Family Playhouse is an intimate, state-of-the-art performing arts center with 560 seats on two levels owned and operated by the City of Rancho Cucamonga. As a major anchor to the Victoria Gardens Lifestyle Shopping Center, the Lewis Family Playhouse educates, entertains, and ignites the imagination through high-quality theatrical experiences for children, families, and audiences of all ages throughout Southern California.

You'll be responsible for:

  • Creating long-range/annual marketing and public relations plans to increase attendance and income goals and keep the brand image of the Lewis Family Playhouse at VGCC consistent.
  • Developing the vision and providing guidance for promoting shows and establishing community partnerships.
  • Developing and executing multifaceted promotional campaigns that include print and electronic advertising, publications, promotional materials, displays, direct mail, email, the city website, and social media.
  • Developing and executing all public relations strategies with local, regional, and national media to ensure maximum coverage for the Lewis Family Playhouse at VGCC and serve as a press spokesperson, as appropriate.
  • Being at the helm of the dynamic team that creates the marketing materials (season brochures, playbills, press releases, posters, flyers, and programs) for the Lewis Family Playhouse at VGCC.
  • Overseeing the budgeting for the out-of-the-box marketing ideas and, of course, the in-the-box ideas too.
  • Developing and executing all public relations strategies with local, regional, and national media to ensure maximum coverage for the Lewis Family Playhouse at VGCC and serve as a press spokesperson in coordination with the City’s Public Information Officer, as appropriate.
  • Your passion for the arts should assist you in developing the Lewis Family Playhouse at VGCC and implementing strategies to reach new and underserved audiences, members, and donors and cultivate existing audiences, members, and donors towards a deeper involvement with the venue.
  • Serving as the lead staff member responsible for market research and analysis, and for planning, ensuring, and measuring patron satisfaction.

 

Education and/or Experience 
Equivalent to Bachelor’s degree in marketing, communications, or a related field and three years of responsible graphics design, marketing, and advertising experience.
 
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities 
Graphic design methods; illustration techniques; advertising practices; marketing promotion and communications practices;
 
Operate modern office equipment including computer hardware and specialized desktop publishing and graphics programs; research, evaluate, and present marketing ideas and themes; write text for marketing materials; coordinate advertising and public education campaigns; use discretion and exercise sound judgment; work independently; meet project deadlines; establish and maintain effective working relationships with those contacted in the course of work including customers, community groups, supervision, management, and the general public; and communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing.
 
Licenses; Certificates; Special Requirements: 
Possession of, or ability to obtain, a valid Class C or Class 3 California Driver's License and have a satisfactory driving record.
 
Ability to work weekends, evenings, holidays, and special events as needed.
