This program offers a unique opportunity for international artists and cultural visionaries to connect, collaborate, and grow together.

Embark on a six-week artistic journey with our transformative online residency program, designed to foster a vibrant space for creatives that focuses on ecological, social, and political justice to exchange and cooperate, empowering participants to explore new dimensions of their artistic expression.

The program accepts a range of five to ten participants, providing a more intimate space for cooperation and collaboration between participants. This ensures that each individual's voice is heard, and valued, and can contribute meaningfully to the collective experience.

This residency program is not just about artistic growth; it's about building a community of like-minded individuals who are committed to making a positive impact on the world through their art. By joining this program, you'll have the chance to connect with fellow artists, share ideas, and work together to create a new stratosphere of creativity and inspiration.

Expectations and Offerings: Our residency program aims to provide a comprehensive and immersive experience, allowing artists to expand their practices in the areas of sustainability and research. Over the course of the six-week residency, participants can anticipate a rich program that encompasses various elements intended to nurture their artistic journey. This includes weekly group meetings, personalized 1:1 sessions with curator Joana Alarcão, and captivating lectures focusing on ecological art and artists. Moreover, participants will have the opportunity to join the international IOAEA community, granting them access to our network space. Within this space, artists can engage with peers, discuss their practices, and access exclusive opportunities tailored to eco, social, and political art from various organizations. The program also encompasses diffusion and promotion, a dedicated residency profile on the IOAEA website, a personal interview featured on the website, and the chance to partake in a virtual group exhibition.

Community and Network Space: The residency program is designed to accommodate a range of five to ten participants, ensuring an intimate and collaborative environment where each individual's voice is valued and can contribute meaningfully to the collective experience. Our focus is not only on artistic growth but also on building a community of like-minded individuals committed to making a positive impact on the world through their art. The network space provides a platform for participants to connect with fellow artists, share ideas, and work together.

Program Commitment and Flexibility: Participants are expected to commit to the program for the entire six-week duration. We understand that unforeseen circumstances may arise, and while we encourage full participation, we also recognize the need for flexibility. If a participant is unable to attend certain meetings, we can record sections and we are open to discussing alternative arrangements to ensure they can still benefit from the program to the best of their ability.

Joana Alarcão is the creative force behind Insights of an Eco Artist, a dynamic community hub for artists committed to making a difference in the world. At our core, we're driven by the belief that art has the power to drive positive change, and we're actively engaged in the fight to protect our planet and its people.

Our platform is more than just a space for interviews, reviews, and virtual exhibitions – it's a rallying point for artists who share our passion for social, political, and environmental activism. Through our virtual talks, exhibitions, and initiatives, we're igniting conversations that challenge norms and inspire action.

Candidates will be selected based on their work, professional background, and motivation to be part of this transformative program. Applications are free of charge, and we encourage all passionate creatives to apply.

Fee

The residency fee for this six-week program is 250 €, offering exceptional value for a transformative artistic experience. 

While we are unable to offer personal funding at this time, we can provide the necessary documentation for those interested in applying for external grants.

At the conclusion of the residency, participants are anticipated to take part in a collective virtual exhibition, which will commence with an opening event

What should I do if I am unable to attend a group meeting or lecture?

If a participant is unable to attend certain meetings, we have the option to record sections and are open to discussing alternative arrangements to ensure that they can still derive maximum benefit from the program.

When are the meetings typically scheduled during the week?

Typically, the meetings are scheduled for the evenings to accommodate the participants' schedules. The individual meetings with the curator are arranged based on the participants' availability, and the timing of the weekly lectures can vary, with some scheduled in the morning and others in the evening, to align with the group's availability.

What topics are covered in the weekly lectures?

The weekly lectures primarily focus on sustainability in art, ecological artists, collaborative approaches with materials, and related subject matter.
