Swoon Magazine is an NYC-based local media project. Its audience is that dicey sliver of Venn who do read the articles in Playboy, then throw out the rest and run to chew on the images in Swoon. Don’t get us wrong—Swoon is a deeply political organism as much as it is a party machine—and its politics are this: that glamour can, and must exist in our daily lives—and you can do it, if not by yourself then with a little bit of help from your friends.

The fashion industry is predicated on the same planned obsolescence that as we speak is dozing up piles of waste that people can, and do, ski on. A fashion cabal on the other hand, a fashion coterie, is sexy and sustainable. Fashion is an action and not a destination. Our mission is twofold: to showcase innovative designers and photographers and to reclaim fashion as an artistic expression outside of the push to create commercial trends. We believe that photography and fashion, like any other art form, require a space for creative play and experimentation outside of the confines of their respective commercial industries. Fashion must trot beside you as your life’s cadence calls, elsewise you will find yourself panting after it up the J-curve to infinity. And ya gonna kill yuhself that way hun—YA ARE! We cannot live at such a velocity of need. To appropriate Burroughs, “How fast can you take your time and still look hot, kid?” Ask yourself long and hard—if you still can’t see it, Swoon will snap a picture. We’ve come to reclaim the master’s tulles.

FACTORY isn't printed anymore; was formerly known as Tokion.

The magazine was started in 1996 by Lucas Badtke-Berkow and Adam Glickman, two American expatriates living in Japan, as a cultural bridge between Japan and the United States. In 1998, Tokion opened an American office in Los Angeles. In 2000 it moved into a retail space/office in New York City, while maintaining a retail space/office in Tokyo. While in New York, the magazine's focus shifted from Japanese-influenced content to street culture aesthetics and then to a more global arts magazine featuring interviews with recognized artists such as Lou Reed, Richard Prince, James Brown, Francesco Clemente, Roger Corman, Ed Ruscha and Jeff Koons, while continuing to cover up-and-coming artists such as Harmony Korine, Miranda July, Cory Arcangel and Simone Shubuck. In 2007 Kate Sennert was named editor-in-chief.

In 2002, Badtke-Berkow sold the magazine to Glickman. Badtke-Berkow began publishing Paper Sky and Mammoth magazines in Japan, while Glickman began publishing Japanese and US editions. In 2005, the Japanese edition was sold to Infas Publishing Company. In 2006, the American edition was sold to independent publisher Larry Rosenblum. In 2009, Tokion and Creativity Now were sold out of foreclosure to Donald Hellinger, president of Nylon Holding, Inc., who later closed the magazine.

The first Pacha opened in the beach town of Sitges in 1967. Six years later, in 1973 during the hippy movement, Pacha arrived in Ibiza. Since then the brand has been constantly developing together with time, fashion and trends, and bringing new ideas, improvements and all kind of extravagances to the night scene; although always maintaining its singularity, its particular style and spirit.

Four decades after its first opening in Sitges, Pacha has successfully established in many different countries all over the world: Brazil, United States, Russia, Germany, England, Egypt, Portugal, Austria and in the most important Spanish cities like Madrid, Valencia, Bilbao, and soon in many other interesting places in the planet.

But Pacha is not only about nightclubs. The brand opened a few years ago El Hotel Pacha in Ibiza, a complete success because it brought a new concept to the island’s hotel industry. El Hotel offers modern luxury in a relaxed Mediterranean way all year round, with a bar in the lobby that has turned to be one of the favorites and most sophisticated meeting points on the island, where artistic exhibitions, special events, pre-parties and fashion shows take place.

In the meantime, Pacha has been expanding its fields and has created the successful Pacha Collection and Accessories, producing all kinds of garments that express Ibiza’s free lifestyle and pure spirit, and that have turned to be some of the most desirable items on the island, also available worldwide thru their online shop.

Pacha Recordings, this music label has been running for years and has already managed to work with some of the best DJs and producers in the electronic music scene; a bilingual magazine about what’s going on in the Ibiza: Pacha Magazine; a party Schooner Pacha 67 that sails around the island; and the latest creation the exclusive club, restaurant and cabaret Lío

So the “two cherries” are not just a sweet logo, they represent a hip styled, free spirited Mediterranean lifestyle as well as being constant reminders of their inimitable, glamorous and hedonistic nights.
