History

The Russian edition of FHM is published since 2001 in Moscow; since 2007 by Rodionov Publishing House. Its publisher was Evgeny Dodolev. He had showed that operating a periodical in Russia was much easier without the burden of Western libel laws.

Controversy

In July 2008 issue Dodolev had published nude pictures of five FHM Russia's employees including his own secretary, Chief marketing officer, VP of Event Departament, Executive Culture Director and Head Editor of the magazine. This story referred to a new cost reduction and mocked some methods of budget cutting in Publishing company. FHM Russia employees were never paid for acting as nude models.

The issue had huge coverage in Russian media. The magazine's website was even briefly closed, but has since re-opened. Some of heroines had better job offers and left the organization. Former Head Editor Anna Perova had taken proposal and became Editor in Chief of one of the oldest Russian magazine Krestyanka. The other heroine has been Personal Assistant to Mikhail Leontyev since 2009.

i-D is a British magazine dedicated to fashion, music, art and youth culture. i-D was founded by designer and former Vogue art director Terry Jones in 1980. The first issue was published in the form of a hand-stapled fanzine with text produced on a typewriter. Over the years the magazine evolved into a mature glossy but it has kept street style and youth central to every issue.

The magazine is known for its innovative photography and typography, and over the years established a reputation as a training ground for fresh talent. Photographers Chris Dowling, Wolfgang Tillmans, Juergen Teller, Terry Richardson and Ellen von Unwerth, Kayt Jones have produced work for i-D. The magazine celebrated its 250th edition at the end of 2004 and its 25th anniversary in 2005. The July Issue of 2009 was the magazines 300th publication, boasting many interesting articles and iconic photography, true to the magazines concept. The content, focused mainly on ideas from past issues and bringing these ideas into 2009. Raquel Zimmerman was the covergirl for this edition.

The magazine pioneered the hybrid style of documentary/fashion photography called "the straight up". At first, these were of punks and New Wave youth found on English streets and who were simply asked to stand against any nearby blank wall. The resulting pictures - the subjects facing the camera and seen from "top to toe" - are a vivid historical documentary photography archive, and have established the posed "straight up" as a valid style of documentary picture-making.

Tipped on its side, the "i-D" typographic logo reveals a winking smiley. Most issues of i-D magazine have featured a winking cover model.

i-D has also held numerous exhibitions worldwide and published several books.

In 1984, Tony Elliott (Time Out) became its publishing partner with 51% share of the company. Terry remained editor-in-chief and creative director, but he also worked on other commercial projects. In 2004, Terry - together with his wife, Tricia - regained total control of the company.

i-D's silver anniversary in 2005 was celebrated with an exhibition (i-Dentity) and guest-edited issues. Terry invited a number of creative collaborators to work with him on different issues, around the central theme of identity.

Australian Vogue is published in Australia by FPC Magazines twelve times a year under license from Conde Nast. Kirstie Clements is the current Editor in Chief and Paul Meany is the Creative Director. Many of their covers are original, although often there are reprints from other Conde Nast magazines. Printing and binding are average, but they use glossy paper and a thick cover. Fashion editorials are simultaneously airy and dismal-I don't know how that's possible, but they accomplish it quite well. Perhaps it can be attributed to the use of a lot of dark studio photography and the occasional happy outdoor work. Vogue Australia began publishing in 1957 with only three issues a year. Throughout the 1960's and 1970's, they gradually raised publication to six, eight, ten, then eleven issues. In 1980, they began monthly printing and have been maintained at that rate for almost thirty years.

The British edition of Vogue is a fashion magazine that has been published since 1916.

When British Vogue was launched, it was the first overseas edition of an existing magazine. Under the magazine's first editor, Elspeth Champcommunal, the magazine was essentially the same as the American edition, but for its anglicised spellings. Under its second editor, Dorothy Todd, the magazine shifted its focus from fashion to literature and lost much of its audience. It was under Alison Settle, the magazine's third editor, that the magazine took off. British Vogue's current editor-in-chief is Alexandra Shulman. British Vogue is more commercial in approach than other editions of Vogue.

British Vogue is the most profitable British magazine as well as the most profitable Vogue besides the US edition. In 2007, it ran 2,020 pages of advertising at an average of £16,000 a page.
