Bauman’s vision has allowed us to see the world we live in as an interconnected fabric, as the same technologies that we use daily determine our existence in the world, where space and time are less and less experienced as an obstacle, and where someone’s actions in a certain place can have immediate repercussions in another place.

Every discovery, invention or creation, reveals the innate human need to create contacts and establish connections with others, with self and with reality, in the form of objectives and interests.

The theme of our online exhibition - and for which it sees the paper release of its catalog - refers to those undefinite places and contexts, fantastic places in which to get lost, places of escape from reality where freedom is experienced by rediscovering that sense of union and harmonious cohesion with the environment. Places that reveal the personal perception of the world and the authentic emotional experience, where the "self" is transported by osmosis into a timeless and "placeless" space.

As theories of visual culture demonstrate, since ancient times the iconographic image has been a very important form of transmission and diffusion of human knowledge.

Starting from the late Victorian period, photography became a fundamental medium for scientific research, fully responding to the need to catalog and bear witness to inquiries into the natural world. Being photography considered a means that offers an objective vision of reality, when combined with data and texts, it is welcomed by the academic environment as an ideal means for the documentary transmission of scientific results.
